West MI Road Testing
About the Test
The road test consists of 2 parts - the 3 parking maneuvers and the actual road test. The 3 parking maneuvers consist of: forward stop line, backing into a parking spot, and parallel parking. The test usually takes less than an hour.
Paying for the Test
Costs
- The total cost of our road test is $68.
- A deposit of $30 will be required in order to schedule and book your test. The remaining $38 balance will be due at the time of the road test.
- We currently only accept cash, check, or money order.
Retests (after failed Road Skills Test): $45 if rescheduled within $30 days
Retests (in case of missing/incorrect documents or faulty equipment): $20 if rescheduled within $30 days
Refunds
THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Driver Performance
- Missed appointments, late arrivals, or cancellations within 48 hours of a scheduled road test
- Illegible, altered, or missing documents (including but not limited to: medical certificate/waiver, level 1 license, temporary instruction permit, segment 2 certificate, vehicle registration, vehicle insurance)
- Incompatible vehicles (see below)
Testing Requirments
Testing Vehicle
DRIVER IS REQUIRED TO SUPPLY A "ROADWORTHY" TESTING VEHICLE
Vehicle must be equipped with seats and seat-belts for everyone who will be in the car during the test (driver, parent/guardian (required when driver is under the age of 18), and test examiner)
The following equipment must be present and fully operational:
- Brakes
- Horn
- Exhaust System
- Lug Nuts (must be present and intact)
- Mirrors
- Working Speedometer
- Tires
- Windshield (must not be damaged or cracked)
- Seat-Belts
- Springs/Shocks
- Wipers
- Lights including low beam headlights, tail lights, all brake lights(left, right, and center), and turn signals (front and back)

VEHICLE MUST BE REGISTERED AND INSURED (these documents are required)
Driver Requirements
- Driver must have all required documents on test day - documents must be valid and legible.
- Driver must be ticket and accident (at fault) free for the at least 90 days prior to their test
- All drivers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
- All drivers under 18 years of age must bring a level 1 license (not issued earlier than 180 days prior to the test)
- All drivers under 18 years of age must also bring a segment 2 certificate
It is strongly recommended that the driver studies the test requirements in the Road Skills Test Study Guide prior to their test.
